We had a very well attended meeting with a lively discussion regarding the potential change of post town for villages within the Staffordshire Moorlands. The leader of SMDC, Sybil Ralphs and our SMDC Councillor Edwin Wain were both present.  Whilst it was clarified that the current scheme was not to change any postcodes for the area, the proposal being suggested was to use Staffordshire Moorlands in addresses in place of Ashbourne, Leek, Stoke on Trent and the various other post towns used in the area. It was apparent from the public and council participation that this was not something that the residents of Alstonefield who were present wanted and as a result, we have been informed that this area of the Staffordshire Moorlands will not be included in the proposal and that our postal addresses will remain as they are currently.

Parish Spring Clean on 24th March 2012

As usual a great turnout from locals for the annual Spring clean,  this time on a lovely Spring day. We cleaned signs & benches, swept gutters, tidied edges of some greens, swept the village hall car park, cleared out debris from Green Well,  and collected many bagfuls of litter. Thank you.
