Car Parking

Map of Alstonefield Showing Free Car Parks

To Visitors:

We welcome your visit to Alstonefield and hope that you enjoy your time in the village, its hamlets and the surrounding countryside.

Following a review of car parking within the Parish, our aim is to encourage use of our free car parks, in order to respond both to the needs of residents and to improve the overall appearance and impression of the village for all, and we would ask vehicle owners to act considerately.

As you will appreciate, many properties stand adjacent to the road, most with no off-road parking, which means that many residents rely on the space directly outside their properties for their own vehicles. Owing to the nature and characteristics of the properties, the effect of vehicles parked directly outside, is to significantly reduce the amount of light and to restrict access to frontages.

We discourage parking on verges, pavements and adjacent to village greens, especially larger vehicles, where this practice is light-limiting, unsafe and unsightly.

Please use one of the three car parks; we do understand that for the disabled or infirm, this might not always be possible. All car parks are central, free of charge, and are situated at the Memorial Hall & Community Centre, at the public toilet block (Hartington direction), and next to the Playing Field (Milldale & Stanshope direction), as per the map which you can view by clicking the link at the top of this page. Please also note that overnight parking is forbidden in all three car parks.

Thank you for your understanding.
