Top tip if you have wirless broadband..

If like me the walls in your house are very thick. Which could mean you have dead spots. Where you either have poor or no wireless broadband signal.

Try using kitchen foil… Fold it in away, so it can stand up on its own. Place it behind you wireless router and curve the edges.

This should increase your signal as the foil reflects all the wireless signal into your house..

Burglary at Farm Workshop in Stanshope

Neighbourhood Watch have reported the following:
Between 4pm and 6.15pm on Saturday 15th May a burglary was committed at a workshop of farm premises in Stanshope Nr Ashbourne. During the temporary absence of the occupier entry was gained by cutting a padlock from the entrance door. Stolen were 2 Chain Saws, a Stone saw, two drills in their cases, a 95 piece socket set and a quantity of drill bits. The police at Cheadle would welcome any information in relation to this burglary. Callers should quote incident number 665 of 14th May or for complete anonymity ring crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

More Lead Stolen from Church Roof

Overnight Wednesday 28th / Thursday 29th April 12 to 13 rolls of lead were stolen from the roof of St Peters Church in Alstonfield. This is the second such theft in 4 days. Finally overnight Tuesday 27th / Wednesday 28th April lead was stripped from the roof of Blore Church and left for later collection. No one was seen or heard at either location. Please pass this message onto your neighbours and ask them to be aware of these offences and to report any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area to the police immediately.

Sometime over this last weekend Sat 24th / Sunday 25th April a quantity of lead was stolen from St Peters Church in Alstonefield. The roof is 15feet high so ladders and a vehicle would have been used. The police at Cheadle would welcome any information in relation to this theft. Signs of spring

We saw our first swallow of the season last Saturday. He was sitting on the telegraph lines resting so we assumed he had just arrived from somewhere. Is that quite early for a swallow to arrive here?

Also enjoyed listening to and watching the curlews when we were out with the walking group today.

Theft of Heating Oil

We have been informed by the local Neighbourhood Watch Team that sometime over the last week, £1000 worth of domestic heating oil was siphoned from a storage tank at farm premises in Hope, Alstonefield. No one was seen or heard. This is one of a number of such thefts from isolated premises across the Region. Please be extra vigilant and security conscious and report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the Police immediately.

Over the last couple of days heating oil has been siphoned from an insecure storage tank at a farm dwelling in Winkhill. Thieves approached from fields at the rear and siphoned £700 worth of oil and left unseen. No doubt that some form of transport was waiting close by. Please make your neighbours aware that this type of crime is on the increase and it is important to be security conscious and extra vigilant, taking the number of any suspicious vehicle and passing it on to the police immediately.
