I am looking for old walking/working boots – the tattier the better – for use in a fund raising idea supporting a Leaden Boot Challenge stall at the New Year Market in the Village Hall on 7th January.
Just to point out that Wendy also had success at the show, with a second for her eggs and a third place for a watercolour.
It looks as though the public payphone apparatus at Milldale has been stolen. The loss has been reported to BT, who will hopefully replace the equipment. It is understood that there has been a number of similar thefts from surrounding villages. Given that the mobile phones signals in Milldale are poor, to say the least, the payphone is vital, especially in the emergency situations that occur fairly frequently along Dovedale.
Many of the fields and areas of land in the parish have names, for example Pen close, Cock and hen, Bridgley Bank all in Milldale. Many of the names are know to the older families and could eventually disappear. Would it be worthwhile collating such information?
