Alstonefield Welcomes Tour of Britain Cycle Race

Finish Line – King of the Mountain Sprint

Stage 2 of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race passed through Alstonefield on Monday 10th September 2012 at around 11.40 am, when the second Skoda KoM (King of the Mountain) sprint of the day ended outside the Old Chapel.  The winner (the rider in orange), is spaniard Pablo Urtasun of Team Euskadi. He won all three of the KoM climbs on Monday’s route – at Turnditch, Alstonefield and Morridge. This 177km stage started in Nottingham and ends in Knowsley on the Wirral. Several hundred visitors and villagers lined Lode Lane and the Rakes to welcome the cyclists.  Photos of the event are now available on the gallery CLICK HERE.
