Saturday 21 August – RACE NIGHT! In aid of Victoria Cohen Eye Cancer Charity:
“Victoria had many interests, but was particularly passionate about helping young ocular oncologists and women in ophthalmic oncology in their training and education. She believed strongly in fairness and helping others. In recognition of her life-long commitment, and in order to preserve her legacy, her husband, Nick, in conjunction with Board Members from some of the societies Vicky was associated with, such as the International Society of Ocular Oncologists (ISOO) and the Ocular Oncology Group (OOG), is setting up a charity. This charity will have a singular and focussed remit in line with Vicky’s interests, which is to help support the education and training of ocular oncologists through financial grants. Every year, an International panel of experts in Ocular Oncology will select an applicant from ophthalmic surgery worldwide to receive this training grant.” Margaret Cohen – Tickets £5

Saturday 6 August – DAN WALSH & NIC ZUPPARDI with special guests BROOKS WILLIAMS & TOM McCONVILLE (ticket link)
Nominated for best musician at the 2018 BBC Folk Awards, Dan Walsh combines ‘virtuoso playing and winning songwriting’ (Morning Star). Describing what Dan does is no easy task but at the heart of it is British, Irish and American folk music delivered with a healthy dose of funky grooves – all performed with his unique and dazzling take on clawhammer style banjo helping to challenge all preconceptions about the instrument. Add to all that poignant songs, astonishing musical departures and lively humour and the result is a truly memorable live show which has wowed audiences across the world from intimate seated rooms to huge dancing crowds in festival fields.
For this show, he’s joined by long time collaborator Nic Zuppardi on mandolin, plus we have two special guests dropping-in to the show – the ‘Newcastle Fiddler’ Tom McConville and top-of-his-game singer/guitarist, Brooks Williams. Expect fireworks!
