Alstonefield is situated in the Peak District National Park within the Staffordshire Moorlands area. The village lies 2 miles west of the A515 Ashbourne to Buxton road. After leaving the A515 you cross the River Dove at Lode Mill. At the fork just over the bridge, turn right up the hill for Alstonefield. The map at the bottom of this page shows both the Church and the Village Hall (Memorial Hall). For the hamlet of Milldale, keep left. To reach Stanshope, continue through Alstonefield village to Hopedale and take the Ilam road, turning right and then immediately left at the junction with the Watts Russell pub.
The nearest railway station is Buxton (Buxton to Manchester line), about 16 miles away. Derby station is about 20 miles away.
