Digital Switchover

How is the first day of the digital switchover going? Milldale doesn’t appear to be receiving BBC2 despite re-tuning. Your comments would be very helpful

Well we have lost BBC1, BBC2 and many more. Have re-tuned twice aday since monday…

Have checked using a new digital box… No change… We can also still get the old analog signal..

    Whats going on….

In Alstonefield we are between two regions – West Midlands (Sutton Coldfield Transmitter) and East Midlands (Waltham transmitter)

Our aerial is pointing towards the East. We are getting excellent signal on all channels. Analogue stations have gone.

Your aerial is probably pointing towards the West (Sutton Coldfield). A retune was required on the 7th Sept when you should have lost analogue BBC2. A further retune will be required on 21st Sept when you will lose all analogue channels.

As part of the juggling they have to do during the changover, transmitter power may be reduced. This may be your problem, and you should be back on full power on 21st.

So will I be getting a refund from my TV licence??? Until the 21st….

Bloody pathetic bunch of prats!!! Millions spent over 15 years and this happens.

Thank god Top Gear is not on at the moment otherwise that would be the final straw!!!

The final straw it is then…

repeats of Top Gear are showing on Dave all the time!

Carrie and Brian are offering to come to your house on the 21st (digital switchover day) to re-tune your television. We did this for several people on the last re-tune day (7th) and had 100% success. We will be on First Responder duty on the 21st, so bear with us if we do not arrive on time, but we see this as a good way of using our “stand-by” time. Give us a ring if you would like us to help (310009).

    No! All gone. Fantastic……

So if you own a Digital box that is around 5-7 years old and you have lost your Strictly Come Dancing.

Its not your signal or your aerial. Its the fact that the powers that be, decided to alter the signal type around 5 years ago. They change from 2K to 8K. What ever that means.

So my top of the range Pace Dig Box is now defunct…

This information would of been useful.

Well least I have got the tiling done…… No TV….

Has everyone got theirs sorted now? I bought a freeview box last week, on one tv it got only channels from 12 to 80 so no BBC or ITV, then the other tv got them all. I have not watched it since last week, didn’t unplug anything, but when I switched it on yesterday it had no channels at all even after re-scanning 3 times. So now I have nothing. Anyone got any ideas?!

Hi Katie – I thought everyone had got sorted, but obviously not! Providing your TV has a Freeview decoder, either inside the TV or externally attached, you should be able to re-tune simply by going to the menu and clicking on “auto-tune” or words to that effect. If you are not able to do this then my guess is that your TV is not digitally connected. Do you live locally? Carrie and I have helped several local residents out recently (no charge). Rather than reply here, give us a ring on 310009.

I already get iercrfeatanne on the free view tv when certain mobiles are used nearby so what is going to happen when this new 4G is rolled out. Used to be a time when if a cb radio interfeared with your tv the tv licence agency would have the power to stop the iercrfeatanne. It seems now that paying the tv licence gives you no right to watch a tv with out iercrfeatanne. If we are going to be froced to swap to paying for cable or to have expensive filters fitted just to be able to recive a reception then we should grow a back bone a all start to refuse to pay the TV LICENCE.We are supposed to live in a free and democratic country Yet we are forced by law to pay for a tv licence and told it is to cover the BBC chanels many would be happy with out the BBC there are enough other chanels to watch we are being dictated to but are all to stupid and scared to stand up and have our voices heard because in this country we punish people harder for not paying their tv licence then we do if they drive with out insurance or tax..Posted 5 August 2012 at VA:F [1.9.22_1171]1 – 1
