Flower & Costume Festival 2012

“Dig for Victory” Flower & Costume Festival

St. Peter’s Church, Alstonefield

2nd – 5th August 2012

—————————————————————————–

Our beautiful 12th century Church was beautifully decorated with displays based on village life during the war years. using contemporaneous memorabilia, including local photographs from that era.

Organisers Ann Colclough (left) and Notty Hornblower

Mannequins and pieces of furniture, china, costumes and general items that were used by local people during the war years added to the interest of the displays.  We  also used flowers that would be found growing in gardens and fields.

The Festival concluded on Sunday with a Songs of Praise service.

A fantastic net profit of £4050 from donations and refreshments will be divided between St. Peter’s Church and the Village Hall.
