Apprentice Gargoyles Show No Respect To Elders
In the traditional opening fixture of Alstonefield St. Peter’s cricket season, the Unders gave the Overs a sound thrashing on Sunday. The Unders got off to a flying start with Ant Bagshaw and skipper John Salt putting on 30 from the first 2 overs. Phil Bagshaw and Will Siddons continued the assault and although the Overs did manage to stem the flow, a whirlwind blitz from Richard Salt gave the Unders an intimidating 180 off their 24 overs. Uphill struggles are not what the ageing Overs really need, but at the halfway stage they had moved to a creditable 90 for 2 wickets, with bold knocks by John Gill and Neil Shotton keeping up with the run rate. Fatigue set in and the Overs fizzled out to 133 for 6 wickets by the close.
