GARGOYLES GET HAMMERED

It was all going so well, until that defeat at Oakamoor and then this right royal stuffing at the hands of a talented Clifton team, by 104 runs.

Clifton batted first and right from the off, their young batsmen played aggressively and with style. Brewell, Harvey, Wolfson and Wooliscroft all dominated the Alstonefield bowling and made rapid 40s. In amongst all the carnage, Phil Bagshaw took 4 for 31, to maintain his excellent form, but overall, the Gargoyles wilted under the willow assault and spilled 6 catches, as Clifton posted a formidable 175 for 7 off only 20 overs.

It was never a contest. Losing their first 3 wickets for 12 runs, there was never the momentum to mount a challenge and although 4 batsmen reached double figures, it was painful to witness the gulf in class. All out for 71 and a massive defeat by 104 runs. A match to forget for the Gargoyles.
