Festival of Angels – December 2011

From the £4500 raised from our Festival of Angels in 2011, £1500 was donated to Katharine House Hospice in Stafford. Part of this money was used to pay for the day care service on Monday 28th May 2012, in memory of Belinda White (Cathy’s sister).   Jani Barnard and Cathy Reavy were given a tour of the Hospice on 28th May. It was wonderful to see the funds being used in ‘real time’.

A Royal Bonus for Whitework Embroidery Workshop –  7th May 2011

Tutor at the Royal School of Needlework, Jenny Adin-Christie, imparted her knowledge of Whitework  to ‘students’ from Alstonefield, Brailsford, Derby & Ashbourne on Saturday 7th May. Jenny’s work is truly amazing, and for those of us who attended the day, which had been organised by the Alstonefield Arts & Craft Group,  there was an added bonus.  Jenny was in the team that created Kate Middleton’s wedding dress and she was able to tell first hand about the project and  show us samples of the Carrickmacross embroidery technique which inspired the lace design on the dress.
