"All the Bells" or "Work 1197" is a conceptual work of art, created by Turner prize-winning artist, Martin Creed. His aim was to have all bells in every part of the country rung as loudly as possible for 3 minutes on Friday 27th July from 8.12am. Even Big Ben in Westminster joined in the fun, together with thousands of people from across the country, including dozens of villagers and visitors from Alstonefield. Pictures by George Wood.

A rainy weekend in Alstonefield for our Wakes Festival 2012. The sports and sideshows on Saturday went ahead with a new addition, the Lichfield Diocesan Mobile Belfry. The Cricket on Sunday however, had to be cancelled.

Removal of the original 3 bells from St Peters Church for cleaning, repair and re-tuning. Collection and re-tuning of 4 bells from the now non-existent church of St John, Longton. Delivery of 7 bells to St Peter's Church (6 swinging bells and one static bell for the clock chimes). Installation of all 7 bells. The project was undertaken between February and November of 1989

Festival of Angels ran from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th and concluded with the "When Angels Sang" concert. The Craft group in Alstonefield planned this for 2 years and was lead by Cathy Reavy and Jani Barnard. The Festival cafe was run by Carrie Ross. £4,500 was raised for St. Peter's Church water appeal, the Memorial Hall building project and Katharine House Hospice, Stafford.

Christmas celebrations at the George on Sunday 19th December 2010. Thanks to Emily for holding the event and supplying her equipment (and chef), to Chris, the chef for dressing as a fairy(!) and cooking the food, to Richard for dressing as a pixie and supplying all the food, and to Carrie for organising the choir. A total of £550 was raised for St Peter's Church water appeal and the First Responders (WACFR)

After lead was stolen from the church roof, the village went into fundraising overdrive. Together with personal donations, the cost of replacing the lead and a new alarm system (£10,100) was raised in just 2 months. The fundraising was, in fact, so successful that the water (kitchen and toilets) project was put back on track.

Wakes weekend – 26/27 June 2010. Setting up on Saturday morning; childrens games at 2pm and street party at 5pm. On Sunday at 2pm John Reavy gave a history tour of St Peter's Church and at 5.30pm (delayed due to the World Cup) the Warslow Silver Band processed to the George Green for an open air service and concert.
