Single Wicket Competition HOME – Sunday 15th July 2012

GARGOYLES ALLOWED OUT TO PLAY AT LAST

The sun shone and a full six weeks since their last match, Alstonefield Cricket Club held their annual single wicket competition on Sunday, which ended in a thrilling last ball climax. The winning pair were Sunil Angris and

Ian McKay, who showed the value of combining accurate bowling and good shot selection, in compiling their unbeaten score. Phil Bagshaw almost won the trophy single handedly, with a brutal display of hitting, only to be denied by an unplayable Terry White leg break with the last ball of the competition.

There was a particularly fine batting display from Richard Allen, who looks to be running into fine form in time for the second half of the season, which sees the Gargoyles with six home fixtures, beginning on Sunday 22nd July against  Ashbourne.
