Single Wicket Tournament HOME – Sunday 2nd October 2011

GARGOYLES’ CELEBRATE MOST SUCCESSFUL SEASON

Played 13, won 7, drawn 1 and lost 5, with 8 matches postponed. 2011 may have been a weather disrupted summer, but Alstonefield Cricket Club recorded its best results by far, and to the general acknowledgement of its hardy band of supporters, has raised the standard of cricket to a level unrecognisable from its early days.

The club ended its season on Sunday with the single wicket competition. After a highly competitive contest showcasing the all-round talents of each player, the deserved winners were John Salt and Alex Lain, who narrowly eclipsed John Clarke and Phil Bagshaw in the final pairing. Appropriately for such a rain disrupted summer, just as guest player Richard Hill presented the victors with their champagne, the heavens opened and the season ended with a deluge.

There will be no resting on laurels, as the indoor winter nets programme begins on Sunday November 6th.Â
