Newspaper Group donates to local good causes
The Alstonefield Newspaper Club can supply any national newspaper or magazine to a collection point in the village. The newspapers are charged at face-value, but because the group is regarded as a retailer, the supplier gives a generous discount on all cash orders. In 2012, the Club was able to accrue a remarkable £600 of surplus funds! A vote was arranged amongst subscribers and the funds were allocated as follows:- Wetton and Alstonefield First Responders – £120; The Staffordshire Air Ambulance – £120; The Village Hall – £69; St Peter’s Church – £69 and £222 towards an overhaul of the church clock.
The more people who subscribe, the greater the end-of-year charity donation will be. More information, including how newspapers can be ordered can be found on the Newspaper Club webpage – CLICK HERE
