Moorlands Connect ‘Gold Bus’ Service from September
A new bus service called ‘Moorlands Connect’ will be launched on 6th September 2010. Operating between Monday and Saturday around six community ‘hubs’ including, Leek, Hartington & Longnor, the service will be different in that the route will be plotted daily in line with telephone booking requests. Thanks to advanced tracking systems, customers will be advised exactly where the buses are and when their ride will arrive. Bus passes can be used in exactly the same way as present. The route aims to connect with existing services such as the 442 Ashbourne to Buxton route. The new 15-seater buses will be able to cater for cyclists, buggies & wheelchairs and will be officially launched on 25th August 2010 in Longnor between 1.30 pm. and 3.00 pm.
The service will cover locations not only in the main Alstonefield village area, but also in Milldale, Stanshope & Hopedale, in fact anywhere within the main operating area. Please note that existing bus services from Alstonefield will change as a result. Partly as a result of feedback from Alstonefield Parishioners, this new service will now run directly into both Ashbourne and Leek on market days. (Leek – Wed & Sat, Ashbourne – Thur & Sat). If you plan to be a regular user of the service, we suggest that you register now for free on 0300 111 8003. For more information please go to www.moorlandsconnect.info
