Jenny Adin-Christie in Alstonefield – 9th May 2009
Jenny Adin-Christie is a specialist professional hand embroiderer and designer, with an innate passion for creating individual work, for the study and repair of antique embroideries and for passing on skills through inspiring and enthusiastic teaching. She learned her trade on the rigorous three year Apprenticeship course at the world renowned Royal School of Needlework, graduating in 1999. She has remained a full time employee of the RSN’s teaching and commercial Studio staff ever since, and is now one of their most experienced tutors, as well as continuing a role as Studio Project Manager. She is widely recognised as a specialist in the fields of whitework and stumpwork embroidery. Jenny’s work within the Studio has provided the opportunity to work on a broad range of major commissions such as designing the new All Seasons and Lenten Altar frontals for Canterbury Cathedral, creating embroideries for an album cover for Paul McCartny and conserving tapestries from Blenheim Palace. Concurrent with her work at the RSN, Jenny runs her own freelance business working to commission, creating unique embroidery kits and teaching around the country. In the future, she plans to run monthly workshops in Ashbourne.
